Is OwlPrompter free?
Yes. The free tier gives you speed and timed scrolling, video recording with filters, document import, templates, Delivery Score, up to 3 scripts and 3 free AI script drafts — with no watermark on your recordings. Pro adds voice scroll, eye-contact mode, unlimited scripts, burned-in captions, live streaming and filler-word removal (Pro Monthly). OwlPrompter AI adds AI eye contact, AI captions and AI writing, billed monthly or yearly (iPhone and iPad). See current pricing in the app.
What is AI eye contact?
You read your script on screen, below or beside the lens, so in the video your eyes look down. After you record, AI eye contact redraws your eyes so they look at the camera, and saves the result as a new take next to the original. Results depend on lighting, framing and head movement: strong head turns, some glasses and dim light can make it less convincing. It is part of OwlPrompter AI on iPhone and iPad.
Does it still work offline?
Yes. Everything works offline — prompting, recording, eye-contact mode, templates and Delivery Score run on your device with no connection, and voice scroll does too wherever your phone offers on-device speech recognition for your language. The AI features are optional and only run when you start them; they need a connection, and so does live streaming.
What happens to my video when I use an AI feature?
Nothing is uploaded until you start an AI feature and agree to what it sends. Eye contact uploads that one take; captions upload only its sound; AI writing sends the text you type or the script you rewrite. Uploads are deleted within 24 hours and are never used to train AI models. You can turn cloud AI off completely in Settings.
How do AI credits work?
OwlPrompter AI includes 120 credits a month. AI eye contact uses 5 credits per minute of video and captions 1 per minute, so a month covers about 24 minutes of eye contact or two hours of captions. The app shows the cost before you start, unused credits roll over up to 240, a failed job gives them back, and packs of 60 or 200 credits in the app top you up. Script drafts don’t use credits.
How does the 7-day free trial work?
On iPhone and iPad, the AI Yearly plan starts with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers. It includes one AI eye-contact and one AI captions video of up to 3 minutes each; your 120 credits arrive when the paid year starts. You are not charged until the trial ends, and cancelling before then costs nothing — the App Store handles it, so you cancel it there. Pro Monthly and AI Monthly have no trial.
Which devices does it run on?
iPhone and iPad on iOS 18 or later, Macs on macOS 15 or later, and Android phones and tablets on Android 8.0 or later. One purchase covers iPhone, iPad and Mac on the same Apple Account. The AI features are on iPhone and iPad; Android does not have them yet. An Apple Watch app works as a remote for the prompter on your iPhone. There is no Windows app. In a browser, the free online teleprompter scrolls your script and can record you with your camera; voice scroll and eye-contact mode are only in the app.
Do you have my scripts?
No. There is no account and no sync. Your scripts and recordings are stored on your phone, and we have no way to read them. The exception is what you send to an AI feature yourself: the topic or script you ask AI to write or rewrite goes to the AI provider and is not stored, and if you let AI captions use your script, its text is kept with that job’s record.
What languages does it speak?
The interface ships in 11 languages: English, Turkish, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian and Simplified Chinese.
Can I use it with a beam-splitter rig?
Yes. Turn on horizontal or vertical mirroring in the prompter’s text panel and the script reads the right way round through the glass, on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android. A Bluetooth remote or keyboard can run the scroll from behind the camera.
What is the difference between Pro and AI?
Pro is the complete teleprompter: voice scroll, unlimited scripts, captions, backgrounds and live streaming, all on your device, billed monthly. OwlPrompter AI includes all of Pro and adds the cloud features — eye contact, AI captions, AI writing and 120 credits a month — billed monthly or yearly, on iPhone and iPad. How do I cancel?
Through the App Store or Google Play, in your account’s subscription settings. We never hold a card on file, so there is nothing to cancel on our side.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds for App Store and Google Play purchases are issued by Apple and Google, not by us. See the refunds page for how to request one.
