Free online teleprompter with camera

Paste your script and press Start. Tick Record with camera to film yourself while you read; the video saves to your device and is never uploaded. No sign-up.

Paste a script to see how long it takes to read.

Space: play / pause · R: record · ↑ ↓: speed · Home: top · Esc: exit. Tap the text to pause. Works in landscape on a phone, too.

Words in [square brackets] show faintly and are never scored — use them for stage cues. Need a starting point? Try a script template, or check the length with the speech timer.

What the app adds

A browser can scroll at a speed you set, record from your camera and, with your permission, listen through its vendor's speech service. OwlPrompter on iPhone, iPad and Android moves the script as you speak, holds when you look away from the lens, records with captions burned in, and streams live — with no account, and your scripts stay on the device.

  • Voice scroll that follows what you actually say
  • Eye-contact mode and the full Delivery Score, including eye contact
  • Recording with filters, burned-in captions and an .srt with every take
  • Live streaming to TikTok, YouTube, Facebook or any RTMP server
  • Free tier with no watermark; The AI Yearly plan starts with a 7-day free trial on iPhone and iPad.

Questions

Is this online teleprompter free?

Yes, with no sign-up. Paste your script, press Start and read, or tick Record with camera to film yourself. The text is kept in your browser only; nothing is uploaded.

Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. With Record with camera on, the camera and microphone stay inside this browser tab. The video is put together on your device when you press Stop, and it is written to disk only when you press Save video. The site has nowhere to upload it to.

What format is the recording?

MP4 in browsers that can record it, such as Chrome and Safari; WebM in Firefox. WebM plays in Chrome, Firefox and VLC, but not in the video player built into macOS.

Why is it not asking for my camera?

It only asks when Record with camera is ticked and you press Start. If you blocked the camera for this site earlier, allow it again in your browser’s site settings and reload the page.

How does “Score my read” work, and where does my audio go?

It is optional and off by default. When you turn it on, the page uses your browser’s built-in speech recognition to follow the words you say and grades pace, pauses, filler words and words per minute. In Chrome and Edge that recognition sends audio to Google; in Safari, to Apple. We never receive your audio or transcript, and nothing is stored. Leave it off and the prompter stays entirely local.

Does it scroll to my voice?

Not in the browser. Voice scroll and eye-contact mode need your device’s speech and face recognition, which is what the OwlPrompter app uses on iPhone, iPad and Android. Here, scrolling is speed-based and the highlight follows the words you say when scoring is on.

Can I mirror the text for a beam-splitter?

Yes. Turn on Mirror to flip the text horizontally so it reads correctly through the glass.

What are the keyboard shortcuts?

Space starts and pauses. R starts and stops a recording when the camera is on. Up and Down arrows change the speed. Home returns to the top. Esc leaves the prompter.
