The best teleprompter apps in 2026, compared

The best teleprompter app is the one that fits how you record: a scroll that follows your voice, recording in the same app, a free version without a watermark, a one-time purchase, or support for Android and Mac. Below, 7 apps are compared on those points from their own store listings and websites, checked between 19 September 2026 and 2 October 2026. We make OwlPrompter, so read its entry with that in mind; nothing here is a hands-on test of the others, and nothing is ranked.

What to look for

  1. Does the scroll follow your voice?

A fixed speed makes you keep up with the text; voice-following scroll waits when you pause. Several apps below say they do this; the only way to know how well is to try it with your own script.

  2. Can you record in the same app?

Recording from the prompter keeps the words right under the lens. If you film on another camera, a plain prompter is enough.

  3. Where does it run?

iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac, or a browser. If you switch devices, check whether one purchase covers them.

  4. How do you pay?

Weekly, monthly, yearly, a one-time purchase, or a free plan with limits. Check the current price in each store for your country, and compare what a full year costs, not the weekly headline.

  5. What does the free version include?

Look for watermarks, script limits and time limits before you record something you want to keep.

Method: for each app we read its own US store listing or pricing page between 19 September 2026 and 2 October 2026 and recorded how it is sold, and took the platforms from the developer’s own website and store links. “What the developer highlights” repeats the developer’s claims in close to their own words. We have not tested these apps, we do not rate them, and we do not include store ratings or download counts, and we do not quote prices. If anything here is out of date, the listing is right and this page is wrong.
